Climate Communications for a Fractured World

The c2 (Climate Communications) Coaching Program is a 2-month coaching intensive to advance communications skills for engaging the social, psychological and emotional aspects of the climate challenge.

We apply on cutting-edge research in these domains to innovative climate change engagement, and bring this into the design a climate communications coaching program uniquely tailored to you, your team, and your project.

Current climate communications simply don’t meet the complex realities of this moment. Not only do they not meet the moment, they may inadvertently contribute to greater polarization around the very issues that you care about. Different approaches are needed. And urgently.

With the current tectonic shifts politically and the impacts of mis/disinformation on climate now eroding key institutions that support action, this is the moment to drop in deep, lean on each other, build new muscles, and come out stronger with wholly new vantage points and ways to proceed.

There is no time like right now for us to improve how we engage on climate.

About

The c2 (Climate Communications) Coaching Program is designed to provide tangible communication insights and skills, specifically within the human ‘layer’ of this global challenge. Participants will learn key frameworks to help them better understand the human dimensions of climate, and will receive coaching on a topic that they identify through the coaching process.

 

In this offering, we weave three key strands into a larger whole:

  1. High-impact Integral Coaching program design and delivery,

  2. Cutting-edge climate change research into the psycho-social dimensions of engagement, and

  3. In-depth experience in coaching, mentoring, and facilitation of adult learning and development.

Launched in the spring of 2025, the c2 Coaching Program is a 2-month deep dive including in-person training retreats to begin and end the program, bi-weekly coaching sessions, and a coaching program uniquely tailored to the communications and engagement needs of each participant/organization. . In between sessions, participants will be encouraged to apply the insights, frameworks and practices, and share their learnings during the biweekly coaching sessions.

Through this program, participants will:

  • Reflect on the key stumbling blocks–as well as confluence points–for your communication and engagement on climate change, landing on a specific topic of focus.

  • Receive coaching tailored to your topic (which can be identified by you, your team, or organization as a whole) which you can then focus on throughout the program.

  • Engage in transformative learning and mentoring, to address, refine, hone, or build skills around your chosen topic.

Outcomes

Specific outcomes will be designed in relationship to the climate communications needs of coachees and the topic they have selected to work on. Examples of general outcomes include:

  • Improved ability to listen in order to connect with audiences ‘objects of care’ regarding climate.

  • Improved skills for tailoring messaging to diverse audiences.

  • Increased capacity to facilitate difficult and tense conversations around climate.

  • Greater understanding how to create safe space for expressing, acknowledging, and working with climate emotions.

The c2 Coaching Program is designed for individuals and teams who are engaged in the difficult work of climate change and are looking for new communication skills, practices and frameworks to attend to the social, psychological and emotional aspects of climate to better advance their work. Climate leaders, policy makers, activists and educators are all welcome.
